It is not out to make a 'quick buck'
nor does it wish to capture or display the excesses too often promoted by
Rock 'n' Roll clichés.
Neither is it the sole intention to be 'critically acclaimed' as 'providing
the soundtrack to our lives.'
(Or any of that other pretentious bollocks!]
Yes, we want to reach as big an audience as possible.
How else can you hope to change things ! ?
Alternative Influence CAN mean different things to different people.
(Who are we to dictate , who can like/dislike us!]
However, its reasons for being formed were the following:
To offer an ALTERNATIVE to the mainstream garb.
To provide something different to the sugar coated, bubble-gum manufactured,
sanitized product that attaches itself not only to much of mainstream music
but also the society in which we now live.
Is it Punk , Is it Rock , Is it Inde , Is it Pop , Is it Funk , Metal , Electro
or Soul ????
Whatever it is , we will not be controlled!
What is it with today's world that it wants to categorize , pigeon-hole or
put safely into a pre determined box anything that comes along
. If its
this it must be a , b , and c and therefore couldn't possibly be y or even
z !
It is music with a message. It's
an attitude. It's a lifestyle. It's about individuality. It's about challenging
convention and questioning the ideals , morals and/or principles of those
that wish to impose on the way that we choose to be. It’s as much a ‘brand’ as a band- and I will utilize whatever forms of art I feel applicable-not just music- to express the emotion, deliver the message, educate the deceived.
These are not slogans and these are
not carefully selected words to market yet another service , product , or
solution.
Make of it what you will.
But I am for real and I choose this way because it feels right and I believe
it is right.
There are no 'wannabe pop stars' in this band and the 'audience' is every
bit as important as those on the stage.
Judge me if you must.
But judge me as someone trying to promote an
ALTERNATIVE and trying to INFLUENCE real change.
